About you and your passion:

I’m an international and online wellness coach and yoga teacher with a passion for fitness, nutrition & health. I enjoy many sorts of physical activities including yoga, contortion, hand balancing and running, and I also have interest in balanced and healthy diet. My interest spreads to the wholeness approach to living in general. I believe in 100% possibility of turning any of our dreams into reality and living your happiest and healthiest life at its fullest.

What do you like most about LivFresh?

I have always been a big fan of buying local and fresh produce, which is not an easy feat in Singapore. However LivFresh made enjoying fresh salads and vegetables an amazing journey!

While choosing fresh produce can help you eat healthier, the advantages don’t stop there. Over time, produce will begin to lose nutritional value. Not only does this make salads and vegetables taste less enjoyable, but it also limits how good the produce actually is for you.

For this reason, what I love most about LivFresh is the freshness of their produce, as well as the pollution-free, chemical-free and sustainable environment using hydroponic farming processes in which their produce is cultivated in. It is very important to get your food at the peak of its freshness and free from any chemicals to ensure the nutritional value is as high as possible and retain the great taste.

What are some of your favorite products from LivFresh?

My absolute favourite products are arugula, cherry tomatoes and bag of greens while my husband is the fan of their burrata, I get it for him once in a while as a little treat. I can eat LivFresh tomatoes like popcorn, and I love it for its freshness and sweet taste! I have been getting them every week for the past year and can’t recommend it more to all my friends and students. Apart from that, we also really enjoy pumpkin dip and hummus, which we always get when having friends over!

What are some of your favourite meals/snacks you’ve prepared using LivFresh products?

I enjoy making all sorts of salads with the greens, as well as to add them to some of my dishes, such as stir fries, sandwiches, tacos and plant burgers. My husband enjoys his signature plate consisting of burrata, arugula, tomatoes and bread which he enjoys them for dinner or as a snack. Recently LivFresh added a beetroot pasta which my husband and I found to be absolutely delicious. We really enjoyed it with a cashew based cream mushroom sauce for Sunday brunch.

What do you like most about LivFresh?

LivFresh is a nutritionist’s dream – good quality produce at reasonable prices. The variety of products and quality is great. I can find products that I always find hard to get somewhere else such as their tortillas, dairy free cheeses, or their beet spaghetti!

What are some of your favorite products from LivFresh?

My favourite has to be the big bag of Salad Greens as the lettuce is so fresh and crunchy! I will just wash and prepare it at the start of the week and it can last me all week in the fridge! I also love their baby kale and olive oil. I am totally in love with their olive oil. It is from Spain and being Spanish, the flavour always brings me back to Spain.

What are some of your favorite meals/snacks you’ve prepared using LivFresh products?

I love making my daily Buddha bowl for lunch where I add the salad greens, baby kale, arugula, beets and a splash of their extra virgin olive oil. I also love the variety of dairy free options such as their plant-based cottage cheese or paneer. I love adding them to my Indian curry or just grilled in the barbeque with some grilled mushrooms.

About you and your passion?

As a homemaker, I have always loved hosting people and cook different cuisines. During the lockdown last year, the passion for creating new and innovative recipes grew and I created an Instagram account to share my passion for food. I am constantly thinking about presentation and styling of food, which is an integral part of the process. I started food styling with props and lights to give it a better look. I even did an online workshop on it to hone my skills. It was so encouraging when I was invited to make a presentation for a well-being group.

What do you like most about LivFresh?

Presentation of food is a very critical and important part of the food. As the saying goes, you eat with your eyes first. If food is not presentable, half of the battle is lost.

I was excited when LivFresh offered me to create recipes with their products. LivFresh Farms has amazing fresh produce. They are constantly introducing different and innovative products and produce every few weeks. I’m thrilled to be a part of this adventure.

A few tips I am going to share are:

  • Always garnish your food
  • Use appropriate dinnerware and platters according to the food you are serving
  • Use bright colour platters if the food has more of browns and whites

What are some of your favourite products from LivFresh?

My favourite LivFresh products are their fresh harvested salad greens, Asian greens, tortillas, burrata, kale.

What are some of your favourite meals/snacks you’ve prepared using LivFresh products?

There are so many dishes that I have made from LivFresh products, and they are all my favourite. I will keep innovating new recipes with their produce. Here are some of my top favourites:

  • Kale chips
  • Lettuce cups with tiger butterhead lettuce
  • Quesadillas and wraps with their spinach and tomato tortillas
  • Burrata and their sourdough bread. Perfect combination for appetiser
  • Seedy lavash goes well with homemade hummus
  • Lavash with different toppings like tomatoes, guacamole, cheese
  • Cherry tomato risotto with Burrata

About you and your passion:

I am a mother and housewife from Australia. When I moved to Singapore 3 years ago, I was really shocked about how dirty the beaches were in Southeast Asia. Beaches never looked like that when I was a kid!

In 2019, my friend and I set up a group called One Planet (Singapore) where we organise midweek community and beach clean ups. We also encourage people to do their own clean ups, at a time and place that suits them. We have now collected more than 4,700 kg of rubbish from the beaches and 1,100 kg of rubbish from the streets of Singapore and we have grown from a group of 2 people, to more than 500.

I don’t claim to be an environmental expert, nor do I live a perfectly green lifestyle, but I am a strong believer that everyone can make a small difference, and that we all need to do something. I find One Planet very rewarding – I’ve met some really lovely people, and we’ve picked up a huge amount of rubbish!

We ran several clean ups in September 2021, including big plans for World Clean Up Day on 18 September, with terrific prizes including farm fresh greens box from LivFresh. We always advertise our organised clean ups on our socials, but you can always organise your own and tell us all about it.

LivFresh has also offered to help by collecting your large unwanted plastic bags, which we will use during our clean ups.

Join us and make your own small difference!

What do you like most about LivFresh?

I love that the vegetables are delivered to our door in brown paper bags every week – I don’t have to cringe that I am bringing more plastic into my house. I also love that the vegetables are locally grown – meaning the products are super fresh, and that I am supporting a local business. Lastly, I like that I can set up a subscription, and the vegetables just keep on coming!

What are some of your favourite products from LivFresh?

I started out with LivFresh lettuce and have expanded this to include the Asian greens, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes and pepper. I’m enjoying seeing the range grow over time.

What are some of your favourite meals / snacks you’ve prepared using LivFresh products?

We always have large salads on our dinner table and my husband regularly makes green juices. I’m also enjoying learning new ways to cook my Asian vegetables.

Jesal’s Cherry Tomatoes and Sourdough Bread Salad.

Inspired by Italian Panzanella or bread salad which traditionally is tomatoes, soaked sourdough bread and few other vegetables dressed with olive oil and vinegar. Have made a different version by toasting the bread for the crunch and adding burrata.

Ingredients

5-6 slices of Livfresh sourdough bread ( a day old) Livfresh burrata 10-12 Livfresh cherry tomatoes Half cucumber cubed 1/2 red onion slices Pesto (optional) Pine nuts (optional) or can use walnuts 3-4 basil leaves Marination Chopped garlic Olive oil Salt and pepper Honey 3-4 Basil leaves Herbs Chilli flakes

Method

Cut sourdough bread into small pieces, drizzle with olive oil and toast it in the oven till golden brown and crispy. Marinate burrata with pesto (optional) In a big bowl mix the ingredients for marination and add halves of cherry tomatoes, cubed cucumber, onions . Mix well and keep it in the refrigerator for an hr which will leave flavourful juices. This would also be the dressing. Once the sourdough bread is cooled down add it to the bowl along with pieces of burrata and few basil leaves torn by hand. Give it a good mix so that the bread soaks the juices. Transfer it to a serving bowl and sprinkle some pine nuts or walnuts. Recipe by Jesal Shah @gourmetaffaire

What’s the Difference Between Burrata and Mozzarella?

It’s hard to go wrong with burrata or mozzarella cheese, but while they may look it, these Italian cheeses are not one and the same. On the outside, burrata and mozzarella look like simple and soft cow’s milk cheeses. Inside burrata, though, a treasure trove of rich, milky stracciatella cheese awaits. This key, cream-filled difference stems from the cheese-making process, according to the founder of That Cheese Plate, Marissa Mullen. “The process to make mozzarella and burrata are slightly different,” Mozzarella is made by heating and pulling cheese curds in a process called ‘pasta filata.’ The cheese goes through a stretching process using hot water or whey and molded into small rounds.”

Burrata, on the other hand, is like a cheese within a cheese, with stracciatella (a creamy, milky cheese) on the inside and mozzarella on the outside. “Burrata is made by using mozzarella cheese, stretched to include a small pouch that holds fresh cream and cheese curd,” Mullen says. “Because of this, burrata is much richer and creamier than a traditional mozzarella.” How to Eat Burrata Cheese While mozzarella and burrata can be enjoyed with similar dishes like Italian meats, burrata isn’t simply a creamier version of mozzarella. “Since burrata’s texture is more buttery, it goes beautifully paired with crostini or fresh bread,” Mullen says. “I also like to serve burrata with olive oil or balsamic vinegar to blend with the flavor of the inner cream. Because burrata and mozzarella are fresh cheeses, they blend nicely with other fresh items. I love to add toppings to the burrata such as olives, tomatoes, fresh figs and peaches.” Burrata can also add a dash of rich creaminess to those beloved mozzarella dishes. “You can interchange burrata and mozzarella with a variety of pairings, but you’ll have to be prepared for the textural differences,” Mullen says. “Burrata does not shred like mozzarella, holds far more liquid and has much more of a creamy flavor. If you’re down with the decadence, add burrata to a pizza, to a salad or even on a sandwich.” Stephanie Vermillion “What’s the Difference Between Burrata and Mozzarella?” 15 January 2021.
